It should be within the practicing conduct of practitioners or else it may lead to serious crimes in courts.
The HIPAA, which primarily stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is entitled to deal with the practitioner who does not adhere to the act. The Act states that information concerning a patient should be kept a secret between a patient and the practitioner. Any altering or sharing of the information will qualify an individual to a punishment that is set by the Act. Modern technology has come up with communication tools and devices that are giving the practitioners a hard time to enable them to control the flow of information. Devices that provided instant messaging, like HIPAA compliant texting, are proving to spread private information faster as they are not required to do. It in return raises queries on how safe the medical practitioners are when the new technology is serious improving the communication era.
There are no secure connections when a client or a practitioner is using the IM service. When they are logged on, it is easier for information o go to people that were not intended to acquire the information. If this happens in the case where there is communication between a doctor and a physician, then a scenario of going against the act would have been committed. Technology is increasingly bringing new threats day in day out. It is agreeable that the use of IM services is increasing coming dangerous due to the advantage hackers take to spread worms and other viruses that get up to destroy the medical data that has is installed in a given system. The trend is causing headache to most IT managers since they cannot control all information that gets through the internet.
